Forces Equine Games Stabling

F.E.G. THE FORCES EQUINE GAMES STORY

Forces Equine was founded on the 19th May 2008 and was originally a sign post website to assist Service Personnel and their families with finding suitable livery & training yards on posting.

Through it's supporters, the website grew and flourished into the organisation that it is today.

In 2012, Debi Heath French was chatting with some volunteers about the option of holding a horse show for it's now members. This is where the Forces Equine Games (FEG.) was born.

"We approached John Sillet, manager of Wellington Riding in 2012 about the opportunity of holding our show at the centre and John was more than happy to assist" said Debi Heath French.

With members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force (RAF) & Government Service personnel competing in Show Jumping, Dressage & Combined Training, enjoying all things equestrian.

The event was in aid of Horseback UK, ABF The Soldiers Charity, the Astro Fund at RAF Akrotiri Saddle Club, and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Equestrian Association.

The event was collated and ran by volunteers including the forementioned as well as Captain David Heath French RAMC, Richard Wyeth of BFBS who was our compare, Mrs Bernadett Hewitt, who headed the ABF The Soldiers Charity stand and media streams. Some fantastic prizes for our auction were gathered from some of GB's most prestigious riders.

Many of the competitors offered their support with monitoring arenas and gates when they were not competing and went above and beyond to ensure the event was a great success.

With extensive coverage from local and national news channels, including ITV Meridian & BBC, the event showed its success and unity of the competitors and participants. Our riders and volunteers were so grateful.

To date, F.E.G. has grown and has showcased Wellington Riding in Hampshire, Moreton Morrell College in Warwickshire, Arena UK in Lincolnshire and for 2020, Addington Equestrian in Buckinghamshire.

In 2014 Forces Equine was a finalist in the ESMA (Equine Social Media Awards) and in 2016 Forces Equine was a finalist (top 5) in the Best British Riding Club at the  Horse & Hound Awards (out of 430 clubs!). 2018 saw Forces Equine being nominated for best Riding Club again at the Horse & Hound Awards, where we made the top 4 out of over 800 entries and our Founder, Debi Heath French, was nominated for 2 MOscars with Horse Monkey.
